Ferric Ferrocyanide

Has some considerations

Description

Ferric ferrocyanide is a synthetic colorant used to impart a blue color to cosmetic formulas, paint, and printer ink. It is also known as Prussian Blue.

Benefits

Imparts color to products. Can be used as a medicine to prevent heavy metal poisoning. (Use only under the care of a physician.)

Considerations

• Contamination Concerns Inorganic cyanides react slowly with water, carbon dioxide, and acid to release hydrogen cyanide (HCN) gas. Hydrogen cyanide is a highly toxic gas. • Allergies Some people may be allergic to this colorant. • Inhalation Risk May cause respiratory inflammation in aerosolized products.
