Description

Coconut oil is extracted from the fruit of Cocos nucifera tree. It can be cold-pressed or solvent extracted. It is a good source of saturated fatty acids, especially lauric and myristic acid.

Benefits

Coconut oil has many uses dietarily and in cosmetics. It's known for its skin-softening and moisturizing properties, as well as in oil pulling in oral care. It contains small amounts of vitamin E and vitamin K. Some studies indicate it may have antibacterial properties.
