Name

Sodium Levulinate

Considerations

• Contamination Concerns Sodium levulinate can be only 97% pure and manufacturers are not disclosing what the remaining 3% is. It could be water. It could be something harmful. We don't know. However, sodium levulinate is used at a quite low concentration so impurities would be quite low in a finished product. (If it was used at a 1% concentration that would mean .03% of the formula would be comprised of whatever impurities were present. However, it gives us pause that we don't know the composition of that content.
